Make your mark for International Water Safety Day on 15 May 2022. You can now donate your Discovery Miles to the National Sea Rescue Institute through Vitality MoveToGive and help underprivileged children learn essential water safety skills.

Discovery Vitality has partnered with the National Sea Rescue Institute to help empower children from underprivileged areas in South Africa with essential water safety skills.

Saving lives. Changing lives. And creating healthy futures.

The National Sea Rescue Institute is the charity that saves lives on South African waters, both coastal and inland. Its goal is to prevent drowning through rescue operations, education and prevention initiatives. Operating from over 50 base stations along the local coastline and on inland dams, rescue volunteers are on call at all hours, every day of the year.

The institute also visits schools around the country to teach children about water safety and essential swimming skills. Other drowning prevention measures include an online training academy with free courses for crew and the public, emergency signs, pink rescue buoys for emergency flotation, rescue swimmers, lifeguards and active patrols during peak seasons.

That's where you come in. Discovery Vitality members can now donate their Discovery Miles to the National Sea Rescue Institute through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app. Just in time for International Water Safety Day on 15 May 2022.
